Although an experienced enthusiast, this is the first Jaguar I have owned. I’m looking forward to getting into it when time allows.
The Jaguar Mk2 has not been on the road for at least 20 years and is in very poor condition.
Chassis number is 125316 which is a Jaguar Mark II powered by a 2.4 XK engine with manual steering, left-hand drive and a manual transmission without overdrive. This Jaguar Mark II was number 93 out of 857 vehicles manufactured during 1960 in the United Kingdom.
With the help of the original Jaguar MK1/MK2 book I have discovered a few things..
My mk2 2.4 is one of only 3405 produced in LHD between October 1959 and September 1967.
Features which my Jaguar has because it’s an early one.
Mk IX rear view mirror.
Front seats have small version cutaways for rear passengers.
Early version picnic tables without centre fastener.
Front sun visors are recessed.
No support arm on the ashtray.
The seats are the earlier type.
I have also found the original stamped chassis number being 125316 which matches with the documents I do have and the original chassis plate from the inner wing.
The engine number prefix is BG, BH or BJ and the body number prefix is H
Here are the some photos of the current condition.
